It is undisputed that sleep is important to your health. A lack of sleep lowers immunity, affects hormonal levels and can have negative effects on body’s organs and systems.
Not only is sleep important to health, so is your sleep position. Not only is it important to have an adequate mattress, it is also essential to have a good supportive pillow. Sleeping in a position that puts stress on your joints and ligaments (for example, with your hands above your head or your arm twisted behind or under you) can create pain and ongoing problems.
If you have pain or stiffness, it is important to pay attention to it. Many people say, “I just slept wrong.” That may be true, but “sleeping wrong” can create a chronic problem.
