Research on genomes is providing us with valuable information about the genetic basis of disease. This research shows us that “on a genetic level, any two people are more than 99 percent alike.” However, those 1% variations contribute to diseases, both rare and common.
As science continues to evolve in this area, we are closer to understanding cancer, diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders and other diseases, and how our genetics play a role in our predisposition towards these diseases.
